UX DESIGN COURSE

Client: RMIT Online, Future Skills Course

Project type:  Course Design, Content Writing

The Challenge

Symplicit was engaged to provide industry expertise, insights and credibility as an innovative enterprise in Australia, to collaborate and create a 6-week foundational level UX course. The course was designed for customers as an important early step in the career, transition and upskill of RMITO students

Approach

  • Design sprint 1:  Low-fidelity map of the 6 week online UX course — high level structure of modules and topics covered

  • Design sprint 2: Mid-fidelity map — detailed structure of the modules, topics covered, activities, learning outcomes & draft content

  • Design sprint 3:  High-fidelity — finalised modules, topics, activities and final content

Key deliverables

A 6 week short course was created and launched in August 2019 as part of RMIT Online's future skills program — https://online.rmit.edu.au/course/sc-user-experience-design-dtr105

My role

I co-created the course design,  and wrote course content on the following topic areas:

  • understanding the design brief

  • benchmarking methods

  • UX research including methods, planning and execution

  • persona creation

  • case studies & examples

  • assignments and milestones

I also was interviewed for videos relating to Synthesis, interviewing techniques, personas & transitioning into the UX field.

Impact on the business

The course has been successful in attracting students and providing them foundational skills for entry into the UX industry.  Since then, I  have continued to work with RMITO as an industry mentor for students undertaking the course.
